My 18 week scan.
I would like to say my visit was a pleasant one, but it left me feeling upset. The baby is perfectly healthy, but I received negative comments about weight that upset me. We also found out our doctor doesn’t tell patients the gender until you are 30 weeks along. Anywhere else in the world, you find out at least by 20 weeks. I won’t know until the last week of May…  :(
Also, the weight comments… I love you Japan, but women don’t have to be one size! Pre-pregnancy, my weight was 95 lbs. I now weigh 101 lbs. I’ve only gained 6 lbs and I am 18 weeks pregnant. I was told ‘I don’t need to gain any weight’ before my next appointment on April 3rd. Sure, I’ll be glad to cut back on my reasonable healthy diet…GAH.
I need to get over the negative parts of today. I had expectations and I should learn to not have them. I saw my baby moving a lot and a small hand curl near his/her face. I just need to have a good cry and take a nap.

  2. lingerieandlaundry said: If that’s the bottom and legs of the baby in the top one it looks nothing like mine did and looks like a girl. As long as you’re not losing weight and you and your baby are healthy then there shouldn’t be anything to comment on, that’s rude.
  3. ontheedgeofdarkness said: WTF? Your doctor would be mortified by me then. My weight goes up and down by 4-5lbs every week due to bloating & fluid retention, and I’m not pregnant. It sounds perfectly healthy for you to have put on that much weight. You look after yourself well

  5. guhn said: ahh huge bummer you cant figure out the sex of the baby yet!! and you are correct in trying to think about the positives, try to ease your mind by telling yourself the baby is happy and healthy!! / v \ <3<3
  6. hicockalorum said: uh-fuck that. you do what your body and you baby are asking for. that was just one Dr.’s opinion. breathe it out, and do what you know is right.

  9. freshflowersahead said: i can’t believe they would make that comment about your weight, that is so absurd to me. but you are healthy and so is your baby so congratulations mommy to be! im so excited for you <3
